New Small Boat Fleet Arrives at Boonedocks

For the use of our guests we now make available a brand-new fleet of paddle craft and a small sailboat. We have recently purchased from our friends at the Pirate Queen a Pamlico 100 (10’) kayak, a Pamlico 120 (12’) kayak, and a Mad River Adventure 16 canoe for use on Broad Creek, Brown’s Creek, and other local protected waters. Rounding out the fleet is a chance find on TownDock.Net – a 12’ Clark Marine day sailer. It’s an oldie but a goodie, and a perfect warm-weather boat for use on Broad Creek only.

New - Paddle and Sail at The Boonedocks! Meet the Fleet!

The paddle fleet is ideal for exploring Broad Creek and environs, especially for visitors to the Oriental area who are considering a real estate purchase. Looking at lots on Broad Creek, Ship Creek, Gum Thicket (a/k/a River Dunes), Brown’s Creek, Button Gut, Tar Creek, Paradise Shores, or Gideon’s Creek? If you want to know how your waterfront property looks from the water, you have to go see it by boat. Canoe

Kayak Explore Oriental by water!

Get up close and personal with your potential acreage or home site! We’ll happily drop you and the kayaks and/or canoe in-town for creek exploration and pick you up later. Paddle Smith Creek, Pierce Creek, Kershaw Creek, Green’s Creek, Morris Creek, and Whitaker Creek.

Visit Oriental on foot!

Head for Oriental Harbor and take out at the nearby Town of Oriental dinghy dock or the launch ramp. Have a bite to eat at one of the fine local restaurants, shop for gifts or necessities in local Oriental shops, and just enjoy a restful walk through this peaceful town on the River Neuse. Want to know where to go? See our pictorial walking tour for photos of local businesses, descriptions, and directions.
Dogs Kayak

Kayaking Couple All boats are available to guests after a quick checkout by the Dockmaster. While we don’t consider this to be a rental fleet, there is a $10 daily fee for use of the boats. Ten dollars covers all cabin occupants for use of all the small boats for one day and is your “contribution” to our Sinking Fund (for the day a PFD doesn’t make it home or a kayak has to be retrieved from the middle of the sound).

Other Boats

The Clark Marine 12' day sailer (not pictured here - she's out for a bath) is a perfect sail training boat for your young'uns. She's a small warm-weather craft for use on Broad Creek only. More info and pix soon.

bigger BOATS

The Dockmaster is working on the purchase of a pair of older 25' (ish) boats (big being relative and all!). The big boats are planned for day or overnight use on the Neuse and in the Sound. Obviously, the big boat fleet will not fall under the $10 contribution plan, but we'll keep the big boat rental modest and affordable for budget-minded vacationers. We'll keep you posted.
